| Some Reviews
from previous books. I absolutely love the poems! They're an absolute treat with a great sense of humour. A tharapeutic read, I dare say. ~ EM Saint Hill, UK Warm poems for cold days. Erica Chesler gives another book of personal insights into family, friends, good times and holidays. ~ LM Clearwater, Florida The poems are so funny and uplifting. Had good laughs and also some great recalls of things like that. ~ DL Clearwater, Florida These poems surprised me with how deeply they resonated — gentle, funny, and full of quiet wisdom. Reading them felt like a peaceful sail with an old friend who understands life’s undercurrents. ~CR Dunedin, Florida Erica continues to delight with these musings and her take on the everyday experiences of life. Her ability to capture joy and reflection in the little things is a treasure... and something we all need right now in this world. ~GB Melbourne, Australia Sitting on a London train I just had a quiet 20 minutes to read Erica’s poems. They brightened my morning with their wit and their charm. Erica’s ability to convey everyday banal experiences into moments to treasure is delightful. I found myself giggling with joy in each poem I read. ~DB London, UK A humorous collection of poems, reflecting the joy, trials and tribulations of everyday life.Beautifully illustrated ~ RP New Zealand Excellent descriptive stories on every day life. Short stories to warm your heart. ~ LA Maui, Hawaii I am a cat devotee, with our cat ruling the house of course! Loved this poem and it encapsulates the essence of a cat! ~ ES Melbourne, Australia. |

| Sebastian,
our neighbor's beautiful ginger cat, comes to visit us every day. He charms us both in many ways. Well-mannered
and patient, he waits daily for our return home after our morning walk.
Then
quietly without asking, he follows us in. Watching
us
both intently, he jumps gracefully onto the kitchen countertop and
politely
waits. We
always
have some milk or tidbits for Sebastian to enjoy. Then
this
classy cat jumps onto the floor and rubs up against our He
never overstays
his visit. Rather, when it is time to go, he walks over to the front
door and
indicates with his paw, “Please open the door.” Before
he
departs, he turns and speaks a gracious meow which means, “Thank you,
have a
nice day” in Felinese, and then he disappears, until tomorrow! |

What will happen in the future? I
sometimes wonder
what will happen in the future. In the
old
days young people used to go to dance halls Now,
together
with Uber food and Netflix, no one goes out to see anyone at all! This is not what I call progress. What
is next
to happen in the future? I
suspect in
the future that its AI who will supply and inspire every child with a
great IQ. Elon
Musk has
a vision for the future and how things are going to be.
But if I had my way, I`d take us all back to
the wild days of the sixties, when the Beach Boys and The Beatles
showed us the
way! I am sure all you other seniors know what I mean.

Patsy
met
Oliver at the wedding party of their best friends The
rest of
the evening was a fairy tale, with a prince and his Cinderella immersed
in hues
of silver and a soft pale color. The
bride,
radiant in layers of ivory white. The
decor,
subtle, such a delight! Chandeliers,
twinkling bright stars, were an
impressive sight. A great band got everyone dancing, until they stopped
playing
at the stroke of midnight. It was
a
romantic meeting from the very start. Patsy
and
Oliver got married, and to this very day have never been apart. It
just goes
to show, you never know when that special person is going to show up in
your
life. I can remember the very moment it
happened to me. ~~~

People
come
and then go out of our life, just as flowers bloom then sadly expire,
all too
soon. Waves
in the
ocean break as they roll onto the beach.
Then they fall back and merge again with the sea. Presidents
of
countries get elected by their people. If
they do well and help raise the economy, they are granting us autonomy. If not, they are introducing us to slavery. Then it is soon time for them to go! Friends,
parents, animals, homes, seasons, and politicians come and go. Someday,
I
will be ninety-four and that could be time to close the door! But as Jesus, Buddha and the Terminator
all
said, “I`ll
be back!” ~~~

The
house
lights slowly dim. A
spotlight
suddenly appears on them. Everyone gasps at their stunning effect. A
flamenco
guitar fills the air with a sultry beat. Their
silhouette moves off onto the ice to a
multitude of whistles and cheers. Holding
hands
while gliding over the wide space, both appear intimate in their close
embrace. Everyone's eyes follow their graceful twirls
and swirls across the white ice. A
pause, followed by a sudden dramatic chord brings loud applause! The
crowd all
want more; he knows to pose and what to do next. Spinning her round and
around,
dressed in fiery red, she is like the dazzling sun.
The
spectators are all gasping, watching only her at that moment. She is
the most
stunning one. ~~~

The
southern
tip of Africa, between Table Mountain and two oceans is where I grew
up,
studied, then married and had three beautiful children. With
the
politics uncertain then, I considered closing that curtain. Suddenly,
my
husband died and I decided to follow my grown-up kids to Australia. Several
years
passed by and I met my artist husband Sandy there, who
grew up
in Hawaii. Together
we
flew to the USA where we now live in Florida today. I love
the
climate, the wide-open space, the beaches, interesting places and faces. This
is home
to me now. I loved growing up in South Africa, and I loved living for a while in Australia, but now that I am in the land of the free and the home of the brave, I actually feel like I have finally found my real home.

From
the age
of five, I was learning rhythm and rhyme, expressing myself in poetry. When I
was
about nine, I looked up at the stars one night and wondered what my
life was
all about. I knew I was attracted to
music and drama. As I
grew up,
I got distracted by the usual teenager things. Boys, dating, music and
dancing. Suddenly,
I
finished high school and needed to decide what to do with my life. I
always
knew it had something to do with the arts. My dad
eventually gave up on his idea of me becoming someone's secretary. I
was able
to convince him that I should choose a career in drama.
Five
like-minded friends and I formed a group called The Story Spinners
and
together made a record for nursery school kids, called: Feet Wings and Other Things! I
taught
speech and drama to kids of all ages, acted and produced about a dozen
plays
and received positive reviews. I hope
you
enjoy my poetry books, which are the latest products of my life’s basic
purpose. ~~~
